The Structure of the Tirtenverse

The tirtenverse is the shared multiverse all of my (Mrnnki's) stories take place in. It is a simulation composed of various universes that range from single planets or locations all the way to the typical conception of a universe. The fact that it is a simulation only impacts how it works (it operates on "video game rules" in certain cases), as the tirtenverse is as real to its inhabitants as our world is to us.

Most of these universes follow a similar general trajectory, but there are some exceptions. This trajectory is as follows:

A world is created very similar to our own, but all humans are gone. Cats gain mutations that allow them to manipulate forsen, which causes them to grow intelligent to better manipulate forsen. Other groups of cats which did not obtain these mutations split off into other species as these mutated cats grow more humanlike over time. They eventually become mettalus. This prehistoric period is captured in Clowders & Claws.

The mettalus create a society built around fusing technology and forsen. This technology is abused as a form of mind control and an authoritarian government forms. It is eventually overthrown, but at the cost of most technology, forcing society to restart. Most knowledge of forsen is lost, as are most historical records, leaving this period largely forgotten. This is The Inbetween.

The mettalus evolve into creatures that look nearly identical to humans, known as tirten. There are two groups of tirten which retained knowledge of forsen: katiren and forahen. These groups are considered dangerous by the tirtenian government, who attempt to hunt them down. But one politician sees the potential in these groups and attempts to enslave them as her personal army. A small group of heroes tries to stop her. This is Catcross.

The politician may or may not succeed. If she succeeds, this becomes Tirtenian. The true Admins—responsible for managing the multiverse—take notice as a minor Admin attempts to take advantage of the abilities of the beings of the multiverse to destroy them.

Hierarchy

There are two kinds of beings in the tirtenverse: those who stay within their home universe and are generally unaware of the wider multiverse, and those who know and can leave their home. The latter group are known as (minor) Admins.

The true Admins are the three original denizens of the tirtenverse. They existed before all others and have the ability to create, destroy, and manipulate anything in the entirety of the multiverse. The first is Scrap, the creator. The second is Risk, the destroyer. The third is Checksum, the editor.

Checksum manipulates Risk and Scrap for zeir own ends. Many believe Checksum is supposed to balance the two. However, ze does little more than entertain zemself. This is why efforts are being made to destroy Checksum, helmed by one particular minor admin: YTIY. It is YTIY's interference that creates many divergences across the multiverse.

Named Universes

As stated before, the tirtenverse contains many universes that play out similar trajectories. As such, they're given names based on where they are in this trajectory if they follow it. The naming structure is as follows:

Place In Trajectory V[number for divergence]-[Distinguishing identifier]

For example: Catcross V1-RV is a Catcross universe, the first of its kind to be named, with the distinguisher of RV.

There are many other universes. These are just the ones that have been given names, whether by the Admins or those who live within them.

Clowders & Claws

  • Clowderclaws V1-RD — the earliest draft of Clowders & Claws, where a cat named Brittny got lost in a snowstorm and found herself with the Ghost Town Clowders. Eventually destroyed.
  • Clowderclaws V2-VG — Abyss's original universe. Eventually destroyed.
  • Clowderclaws V3-PMV — Clowders & Claws as depicted in the PMVs. Eventually destroyed.
  • Clowderclaws V4-QT — The "main" Clowders & Claws universe, as depicted in the current draft and reflected in the character profiles on this website.

The Inbetween

  • Inbetween V1-TE — Tee's original universe. This eventually became a Catcross universe, but which one it became is unknown.

Catcross

  • Catcross V1-RV — Where the nebulisae currently live. Prior to them moving in, all life capable of wielding forsen was wiped from the universe by Checksum after a confrontation with YTIY and that universe's Jaes.
  • Catcross V1-NJ — The "primary" Catcross universe depicted in the character profiles in the chardex on this website.

Tirtenian

  • Tirtenian V2-IN — A world in which Pom's watch was broken during a fight with Checksum, resulting in a cataclysmic forsen-powered explosion that took many lives.
  • Tirtenian V2-GD — A world in which Pom's best friend was killed during a confrontation with Checksum and she rewrote the universe to fix it, maintaining it with her own power. Other beings cannot enter it without her allowance because her control locks them out, but she cannot leave her universe for more than a few minutes or it will fall apart without her to guide it.
  • Tirtenian V2-FI — YTIY's final stand.

Other Named Universes

  • Flipnote V1-EX — YTIY's original universe. Destroyed by YTIY itself after it was tricked into doing so by Checksum.
  • Castlefall V6-HV — Hannah and Vanya's home universe. Destroyed soon after they were made into Admins.
  • Modernpaw V43-SK — Sketch, Root, and Axis's home universe. Eventually destroyed.
  • Sunshine V1-OS — The universe Ochre, Sunshine, and the other Project Sunshine characters are from.
