Personality

Aster was a stubborn and vocal cat. Despite the seething glares of others and threats from sharpened claws, she refused to give in. If anyone wanted to push her around, they'd have to contend with her endless willpower.

History

Summary

Aster lost her parents at a young age, and lost her sister when the barn fell down. She found comfort in Snobal, but their relationship was cut short when she found out she was pregnant. When Tabith found out about the kittens, Aster, not wanting them taken away, fled the Mouse Catchers. But they eventually caught up to her at the lakeside. During the ensuing battle, she and Snobal fell beneath the surface of the iced-over lake and drowned.

Detailed History

• Aster was born during Eklis the Warmaster and her siblings' rule of the Mouse Catchers. Her father, Tobi, led a protest against the mistreatment of dark-furred cats in the clowder that turned into a riot, and he was publicly executed for it. Aster and her sister, Dex, witnessed the event. Aster was horrified, and it planted fear inside her that would fester for a long time.
• Her mother died due to illness. Dex didn't take the loss well, and grew increasingly unfocused and distant. Still, Aster supported her the best she could.
• The barn collapsed with Dex inside it. Aster searched for her, eventually finding her corpse buried beneath debris. No one helped because Dex was dark furred. Aster's resentment for the Mouse Catchers' caste system only grew.
• Aster met Snobal at the lakeside. They both disliked the caste system, but were too afraid to truly do anything about it, and bonded over that.
• Aster had a late heat and shared it with Snobal somewhat accidentally. Although she consulted with a Healer to prevent pregnancy, the measures she took were unsuccessful.
• Aster decided to keep the kittens and cut off her relationship with Snobal. But she couldn't keep the secret forever. The kittens--all of them--had too much white fur for them to be from another dark-furred cat. She was discovered, and she fled with the kittens.
• The Mouse Catchers caught up to her. Snobal begged her to surrender, but she refused. She fought him, but didn't realize where she was stepping. They ended up on the ice of the lake, which gave in under their weight. They both drowned.

• Dex: Dex was Aster's sister.
• Dusk: Dusk was the Healer Aster consulted with, and one of the cats who helped her flee the Mouse Catchers.
• Snobal: Snobal was Aster's lover, and the father of her kittens. Despite being beneath his mother's watch, he did his best to sabotage the attempts to retrieve Aster, until it was eventually too late.

• Eklis: Eklis killed Aster's father.
• Tabith: Tabith pursued Aster, determined to take her kittens for the Mouse Catchers and protect her son's reputation.
